Baptists from the Caribbean, including those living in the Diaspora are among thousands of Baptists gathering from all over the world for the 21st BWA Congress planned to take place in Durban, South Africa from Wednesday July 23 to Sunday, July 26. The Caribbean contingent is being led by the Rev. Dr. William Thompson, President of the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship.
“This is a historic moment for the BWA as it is expected that at this congress the first Baptist of African descent will be installed as President,” EST Jackson states. Jackson who is also BWA regional secretary for the Caribbean explained that a number of Caribbean Baptists would be directly involved in various ways in the congress programme ranging from leading sessions to preaching.
It is estimated that over eighty (80) Baptists from the Caribbean and Diaspora will be in attendance. Participants will come from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas and Haiti among other territories. “I am extremely happy to know that the Caribbean region will be well represented at this congress,” a beaming Jackson states.
Congress 2015 will feature worship, bible studies, focus group presentations and fellowship among other features under the theme: Jesus Christ: The Door.
